WILL MY EMPLOYER HEALTH BENEFITS COVER MY MASSAGE

Most health plans do cover massage therapy but please check the details as some companies require a medical note in order to reimburse their members for massage services. All of our therapists are licensed and registered and have 2200 hours of training. We will provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. We currently offer direct billing to Blue Cross but we are working to add more companies to this list!

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A MASSAGE?

We understand that some people can be slightly nervous about having a massage for the first time, it is very normal. Here’s what happens before a massage: you will meet your therapist, go into your therapy room, and have a short conversation with your therapist regarding your needs and what you are looking to accomplish with your treatment. Your therapist will leave the room and allow you to undress and prepare yourself for your treatment. You may undress to the level which you are comfortable, meaning wearing as much or as little as you wish. Your therapist will always make sure that you are appropriately covered with a sheet or blanket. Upon entering the room, your therapist will ensure you are comfortable and will begin your massage. They will also ask that you let them know if the pressure they are applying is too light or too deep. Since massage therapy can be for relaxation or for therapeutic reasons, it is important that you let your therapist know if you are uncomfortable. It’s up to both you and your therapist to communicate with one another to make sure you get the most out of your treatment.

I WAS IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT. WHEN CAN I GET MY FIRST MASSAGE

Once you have been given the ok to go for massage you can book an appointment at your convenience.

WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS? CAN THEY COME FOR A MASSAGE?

Massage therapy can be very calming and relaxing for children and their busy lifestyles. Most children are very excited to receive a massage, however if your child is nervous, you are welcome to stay in the treatment room during the massage to help them feel more comfortable. If you have massage benefits with your workplace health plan or independent health plan, check to see if your children are covered. Most plans have coverage for each member of your family.

I AM PREGNANT, CAN I GET A MASSAGE?

Absolutely! Massage can be an excellent way to relieve some of the tension and discomfort that can occur during all stages of pregnancy. Prenatal massage can help with lower back pain, headaches, edema (swelling), achy hips and knees, sore feet and much more.

DO I NEED A DOCTORS NOTE TO GET A MASSAGE?

Some health plans require a referral from a doctor before they will cover massage therapy, while others don’t. You will need to inquire with your extended health provider to see if this is a requirement for your plan.
If you require a doctor’s note, we do not need a copy of your referral, you will need to send it in with your receipt in order to be reimbursed for your massage.
